Entry 4:Sacred Blessings Liturgical Dance Ministry at Michigan Park Christian Church
Sacred Blessings Liturgical Dance Ministry is composed of sevem young ladies from the ages 11-21 from the Washington, D.C. area. This dance ministry was created in 2010 and have had an estimated history of about 4 bance instructors. However, recently Sacred Blessings Liturgical Dance Ministry was graced with a new instructor by the name of Ms. Katrina Childs. Ms. Childs has changed the dance ministry for the better!
The dancers are usually dressed in colored garments that signify Jesus. Colrs such as gold representing diety, blue as a metaphor for heaven amd whit to symbolize purity and holiness. These colors are choosen by the song, purpose and the celebration.
The movements done by the dancers consist of plies, jetes and arabesques. There are also moments within the dance when the movements of the dancers resemble a combination of various African dances. The repetition throughout the different dance phrases are used to put emphasizes on usually the chorus to allow the church to point out the purpose of not only the song but the things that the LORD has the ability to do. The church responses are usually a mixture of "hallelujahs" and "thank you Jesus".
Sacred Blessings Liturgical Dance Ministry has allowed their dance compostions to bring people we do not know the LORD closer to God. The deliberate movements to the lyrics of the songs are choreographed precisely to add visual element to public worship. This minsitry has grown since 2010 and hope to continue to GOD with the support of the church, family and friends. Currently the dancers are preparing theselves for a dance convention in Atlantic Georgia at the end of July.
